The A-Z's Of Fitness Classes @ FRESH.

Okay, so you walk into a studio (either in real life or virtually) and you’re presented by a list of classes: HIIT, POWERMAX, PIYO, FUNCTIONAL FITNESS, FLEXITONE… What the…? People casually stroll past you and book themselves into whichever arrangement of letters they like best and trot off to the studio while you stand there baffled by the difference between BOUNCE fit and ((BOUNCE)). Does one of those use trampolines or?!

WELL FEAR NO MORE, FRIEND. We’re here to clear up the confusion and tell you exactly which class does what. The key to making exercise a regular part of your daily life is to find a type that you actually enjoy and doesn’t make you HATE the instructor. Or maybe you still hate the instructor but you understand they’re putting you through this with all the love and care in the world. So then it’s okay.

It might take some trial and error to find the right class for you but I promise there is something out there, and you’re going to LOVE IT! So here is a run down of the classes you can find at FRESH. plus some of our favourite classes to take elsewhere too!

FITNESS GOALS

BEST FOR BURN & TONE
Head straight to the BARRE for a workout that will make you shake! Using elements of Ballet & Pilates, this class is incredible for improving your balance & strengthening your whole body. Plus Alice’s playlists are NOT to be missed! You don’t need a barre to participate either, just a chair or table will do… Or you could be daring and give it a go without?! #HEYLOOKNOHANDS!

BEST FOR CONNECTING MIND AND BODY…
Whether you’ve done YOGA or not, you’ve definitely heard about it! This age old tradition has is known for it’s spiritual practice and the connection between body and breath. At FRESH., we have the biggest selection of yoga styles in the local area so you are bound to find a practice that suits you and your body. Choose from Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Jivamukti, Post & Prenatal, Ashtanga, Yoga Shred and Restorative. Click here to find out more about each one!

BEST FOR IMPROVING FLEXIBILITY
Look no further than FLEXITONE PURE STRETCH for your weekly dose of hip opening, shoulder releasing goodness. This class starts with a flowing warm up to heat the muscles up then we focus in on specific areas that are sometimes overworked or forgotten about! You will be amazed at what you can achieve in just a few weeks.

BEST FOR CORE & POSTURE
The holy grail of body loving fitness, PILATES is hugely beneficial to anyone at any stage of their fitness journey. Slow controlled movements allows your body to really work whilst being low impact enough for even complete beginners. Have you ever seen a 90 year old that looked & acted about 50… or a 50 year old that looked & acted 30 (I’m looking at you Elle MacPherson)? They’ve been doing Pilates. I put money on it.

BEST FOR BURNING OFF THE CALORIES
…and sweating all over the place! FRESH.HIT is the place to be if you’re looking to amp up your fitness game. There is so much scientific evidence that interval training is amazing for weight-loss, speeding up your metabolism & improving your stamina but it’s TOUGH. That’s why we use the Tabata method, meaning you only do the sweaty, heavy breathing, feeling like death bit for 20 seconds at a time before you get a break. WIN!

BEST FOR CARDIO THE FUN WAY
And no, it’s not the one with trampolines. BOUNCE Dance Fit is the ultimate throwback party, featuring all of your favourite tunes from the 80’s, 90’s & 00’s. This class is non-stop dance with easy to follow routines that will get your heart rate up & improve your co-ordination. Plus you’ll learn a tonne of new moves to throw down on the dancefloor!

BEST FOR LENGTHENING & STRENGTHENING
PRIMAL FLOW is where it’s at for this! Think long, fluid movements connected together to make a full sequence. This class will allow you to free your inner child with lots of animalistic floor movements, proving so beneficial to all over mobility.

BEST FOR BUILDING MUSCLE…
Our resident PT, Nicole Wright, runs both FRESH. STRONG and KETTLEBELLS to fulfil all your weight-lifting needs. These classes focus on correct technique and progressing each client individually, meaning you get the best out of each class and improve at your own pace. This is a great addition to your weekly workout as lifting weights has huge benefits such as increasing bone density and burning fat.


DANCE TASTES

BEST FOR MUSIC VIDEO VIBES
If you watched in awe at Justin Timberlake’s videos when you were younger and dreamed of being in them… then COMMERCIAL HIP HOP is the class for you! Incorporating elements of hip hop, jazz and SASS then mixing it up with the best R’n’B or pop songs around, you’ll be signing yourself up with an agent in just 4 weeks*!

*don’t hold me to this. But you will feel like the ultimate back up dancer fo’ sho’!

BEST FOR HAIR FLICKS & HIP WHIPS
You know that version of you that only makes an appearance at the weekend, on the dance floor, after at least 6 drinks? Well this class is for them and we salute ‘Weekend You’! Unleash your inner diva and bring out the sexy hair flicking queen (or king) you’re destined to be at STRUT IT OUT. Heels are optional, but after a few weeks of classes you’ll probably be rocking up in the biggest stilettos going! #YAAAAAS

BEST FOR POINTED TOES & PRETTY TURNS
Our LYRICAL JAZZ classes are open to all levels of dance training; whether you’re a seasoned pro or an absolute beginner, each class includes technique work to improve our dance foundations, a must for any dancer! We then work on a routine that’s full of character & emotion - it’s always different and quite often a little weird! But in the best way!

One of the greatest things to have ever been invented, in my opinion. Let’s organise a regular run for absolutely anyone to be involved in and let’s make it FREE. Legendary idea. You’re bound to have one locally, just have a search on their website, register & rock up on a Saturday morning with lots of smiley people. Ever wanted to feel what it’s like to fly? Well then get yourself booked in with Emma and she will have you spinning & twirling around a pole in no time. Not only is this an awesomely fun skill to learn but it’s also AMAZING for your core & arm strength!

Josh runs an incredible outdoor training facility which works it’s members HARD whilst also providing huge support, encouragement and team spirit. Think tyre flipping, weight pulling, rope climbing madness with your very own fitness family… That’s JTS.
